Description, Responsibilities, and Qualifications

The Department of Media and Cinema Studies is seeking applications for a teaching assistant in the Spring semester 2021, to staff two online discussion sections of MACS 100: Introduction to Popular TV and Movies.  The discussion sections are primarily asynchronous, with the option of holding occasional synchronous sessions. 

The teaching assistant for MACS 100 will:

  • attend online lecture each week (conducted by course instructor)
  • be available to meet with the instructor as needed
  • prepare and teach 1 discussion per section per week (all materials are provided)
  • hold office hours for students in their assigned discussion sections
  • grade all assignments, quizzes, and exams for their assigned sections
Compensation

The appointment for MACS 100: Introduction to Popular TV and Movies is on a semester basis at a rate of 50% appointment (two discussion sections), includes a tuition and fee waiver, and a salary that meets university guidelines. The position is renewable, contingent upon the TAs teaching performance, department need, and funding availability.
