Description of Research

Phosphorus discharge from wastewater treatment plants can cause eutrophication in natural water bodies. These events can kill any aerobic organisms as well as harm humans if toxic algae grow. My research focuses on recovering phosphorus from wastewater through chemical precipitation. By analyzing the individual physical processes which occur during precipitation we can better capture and remove phosphorus from our wastewater.
