Robert Dicks is a second year Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics with a concentration in at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. His research will likely focus on topics at the intersection of algebraic geometry and number theory. He is also an Alfred P. Sloan 2018-19 Scholar. Robert received a Bachelor of Science/Master of Science in Mathematics, Summa Cum Laude, from Emory University. He is passionate about volunteering and mentoring for students from underrepresented minorities through his work in STEM teaching and mentoring programs. During his time in college, Robert received excellent mentoring which led to publications in number theory in 2015 and 2016, so he hopes to have a similar impact on other students. Robert hopes to continue to support and guide students of all backgrounds towards STEM fields.
