Adriana Morales is in her third year of the Mathematics Ph.D. program of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. She is interested in applied mathematics, mainly mathematical biology. Currently, her research is focused on understanding models of tumor growth in the brain. Adriana received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras where she was a Claude Shannon Scholarship recipient. She also received a Masters in Mathematics from the University of Illinois where she is an Alfred P. Sloan 2017-18 Scholar. Other than her research, Adriana is passionate about teaching mathematics and helping underrepresented minorities in STEM. In the future Adriana hopes to be part of a teaching in prisons program created by the University of Illinois and do research with undergraduate students, both of which will help her show others her love for mathematics.
