Stabilization of Carbon-Based Anodes for High-Temperature Application

Due to the lack of understanding on how to stabilize the various components in a lithium ion battery (LIB) cell at high-temperature (T > 60 C), we seek to understand the role that each component in a LIB plays in its proper functionality. The process that we have undertaken explores the effect of various electrolyte additives on the thermal and electrochemical stabilities of a graphite electrode in a LIB with an ionic liquid electrolyte.
